Paintings or Prints?

Steve Keene is a New York based artist who paints in multiples. Instead of painting the image once and then over again, he paints many at the same time. Though it is the same painting, it is unique from all of those produced at the exact same time. Without a doubt they are "multiples," but are they also prints or paintings? Or both? Are they worth the $21 he charges for 5 "medium to small sized" ones? or maybe more, less?

The Art of Alphonse Mucha

Continuing on with that discussion on the "Relax" project, here's a painting by Alphonse Mucha.

ambigrams

Two examples of ambigrams (in this case words).  The asymmetrical ambigram reads as a different word depending on the orientation (death / life).  The Angels and Demons one is an example of a symmetrical ambigram (reads the same upside down or right side up).

Here's a link to a really cheesy ambigram generator.  It only works by 676 having unique letterforms, it's not exactly what you'd call a "custom job."

New! Blog!

Here I will post relevant links and images that relate to the class.  Often I have come across things of interest, but short of emailing he entire class with a series of links, I had no way to steer you towards them.  Until now.

Hopefully you will all check this often, read and investigate the posts and even leave comments.  I will also be bringing up in class topics that were introduced here first.  So read early and read often, and don't be afraid to comment.
